Default Mocal SP1 (20mm) Sandwich plate

I plan on buying this oil cooler sandwich plate in the near future.
Has anyone used this model and had a problem with leaking oil or
interference with the block? I'll be installing it on a second gen b16.

Thanks for the help.

Works fine for me. Making AN lines to connect to it and routing them is the trick.

As you can see, space is at a premium!

thanks for the pics, I had just ordered the Mocal sandwich plate for a cooler setup and had ordered straight fittings to come off the adapter... luckily Racer Parts Wholesale has the straight fittings on backorder and I am able to switch them to 90*'s.

I've been using one for years and no real issues with leaks.

X2. Also like Claude said, getting it positioned in there is the hard part. I had to dent that metal coolant pipe to get mine to clear

In a related note,

I was under the impresion that a sandwich plate for an oil cooler could not be used in conjuction of a factory oil/water cooler because of the fitting.

Is that a special fitting used to bolt the sandwich plate?

The sandwich plate does come with it's own unique fitting, yes.

One thing I did on my old Civic when I added an oil cooler was to instead add a oil filter relocation kit (oil filter was relocated to front frame rail close to where the a/c compressor would sit). I forgot the brand I bought (was several years ago). Setrab was the cooler and oil filter relo kit.

I just got my stuff today, man -10 lines are big, lol.

Question, I plan to mount my cooler sideways, I read that in order to do that, you must orient the cooler so that the inlet is on the bottom. How does the oil flow through the Mocal adapter? Based on the OP's 1st pic, I'm assuming that the left port is the outlet and the right port the inlet?

Is 20mm the thread size for using with the factory oil/water cooler and factory oil filter?

I look and search but can't find the thread size.

yes the thread size and pitch between the block, oem oil/water cooler, and oem (honda) filters are all the same (M20 x 1.5mm)

Bill, I believe you're correct on the orientation of the ports.
