I'll contribute to the stupid threads with my own:
So what determines the value for the Integra Type R?
I know that they sell from 10k to 20k - depending on the mileage, mods, etc etc
I came across a really minty 98 CW R which I would love to have in my collection for 18k and it is by far the cleanest R I have seen - Even cleaner than my R's.
I picked up my 99 Vette for mid teens and when I was thinking about buying that R, I thought to my self, I bought my vette for less.
What are your thoughts on this - would you prefer a Corvette over an R ?
I get a LOT of attention in the vette but I love my R.
When I put it into perspective, I told myself that I wouldn't pay that much for the CW because I could have another vette... not that I want one but you get my drift....
Flame away!

It's all in what you want man.
To me, I couldn't own a PERFECT R but I've seen your other post and you have two really nice ones already.
The overpriced R thing, I wouldn't have bought mine if it was expensive. But thats cuz I'm cheap.
My friends whom have M3s, STIs, S4s and other jazz appreciated the 'feel' of the R back when I first got it. They just said they didnt want to deal with the theft so they opted for another car.
It's your money in the end and if it makes you happy to have a art-piece like a perfect R, then buy it.
(I geniunely hate C5 vettes, I'd settle for a C5z06 with the first mod being removal of factory seats.)

I wanted this 02 7series BMW for 20k, new would cost about 70k. Look how well the R holds it's value compared to that. NADA for my 00 PYR was $13.5k. It lost about half it's value compared to the BMW losing almost 3/4 its value. I know mileage is a factor but we're talking only a couple grand difference.
What makes the R resale value (or depreciation) is due to its limited production in North America (as well as other non-JDM markets).
Not one of these threads again..
I'd rather own an ITR over a Corvette anyday. I just like the way the ITR looks better then the Corvette, and that's just for starters.

The Type Rs that are being advertised for upwards of 15k don't seem to be selling. I see people asking that much all the time, but I haven't seen anybody buy one for that much. That is why the ads are all still up.
If you look at the classified section, even the cars in the 10-15k range don't seem to be selling. There are plenty of ads for Type Rs in that price range, and they have been up for a long, long time.
The ads for less than that seem to result in the cars being sold. Those cars are in decent shape, but usually aren't perfect.
Anyway, the value of a Type R, or anything else, is whatever the market will support. It appears that currently nobody wants to pay over 10k dollars.
