WTF is wrong with my motor?! helppp
I have a 95 accord with a h22a in it. I was just driving normally and when I was trying to accelerate a little, the car didn't want to give any power.. it started to slowly sputter and then die out on me. At first I thought it was my fuel.. since it was pretty low, but the gas light never turned on. So I walked over to the gas station to get some gas. I put 2 gallons in and tried to start her. Instead of starting, I got this nasty grinding/clanking noise as I'm trying to start it. It never started. Every attempt, you'll hear the nasty grinding or some random backfires. I was clueless.. and kept trying to start it. Eventually it turned on and I held the rpms at around 2k, if I let off, the car would just die. While the car is running, I still hear the nasty grinding/crunching. I drove it around for about a mile to further see what was wrong. Every time I tried to accelerate a little, there was barely any power. I just pulled over and it died on me. Whenever I try to start it up now, it's doing the same grinding/crunching sound and doesn't want to start. Problem? Thanks.
Update: I finally had time to pop the valve cover and this is what I found.

Im thinking that the belt jumped a tooth and so the timing is now off. And it the timing is off, valves could be hitting the piston... but Im not sure... Maybe someone who has experienced this will jump in.
did u ever do an oil change before all this happened and make sure u check ur oil level cuz h22s likes to burn up oil and if it been low for a while u couldve flung a bearing in ur block hence the reason for the noise and problem of starting it up...
if you have a pic i cant see it but i had a similar problem with my h23 yea its a diffrent motor but it might be worth checking but the grinding and crunching nosie i did not get but sounds like your starter is maybe not pulling back in and could be makeing all that noise but there is a computer chip in your distributor and i have had that go out in an accord that i had and my prelude did the same thing you hit the gas it spits and sputers no power and u let it idle it dies. not even sure how you check to see if that is it exactly but niether one of my cars got spark when they wouldnt start might see if your getting fire.
looks like the tbelt tensioner gave judging by how the belt is jumping between compression strokes... the timing belt finally grabs it at 7 seconds and starts spinning it.

wow talk about timing jump.... thats your grindin noise i bet
I would pop the timing cover off and inspect the auto-tensioner to see if its even functioning
also it looks to me like that timing belt has lived past its lifespan i would change it,
though im pretty sure the damage has been done already (bent valves)
