Good buy IMO. Alpine makes quality products. And those are nice sounding subs too

what's the power rating for that amp?

bout time i purchase something worth it. I paid $300 for the subs/box and ONE amp. he'll be back within a few days with the other amp and rca cables and I'll pay him another $125. Idk if that's really worth it, since a friend of a friend has newer 12's in a ported box and I think one 700 watt alpine amp, which he's selling for 350. Might just let this guy know about it, and tell him to take his **** back or drop the price

That price is a bit steep. Unless the other amp is really nice.....

The amp you have is only 300w rms at 2 ohms right?

yeah i'm pretty sure. the other amp is the exact same. i read some reviews and people say that they are surprised by how much they actually push their 12s and stuff. they say that they dont get enough attention and are definitely worth it

Good subs and good amp, although amp is way underpowered, [200W] for even one of the subs.

Also need to know the impedance of the VCs, are they DVC 2 ohms or DVC 4 ohms, they are wired in series so I would assume they are DVC 2 ohms, but need to know for sure. 94

fcm you gotta stop with the complicated terms around me haha..

anyway, i came across a better deal (i think) and the guy i bought the alpines from is more than happy to buy them back from me.

the 'new' deal consists of used:

ported box (i think) 2 12" power acoustic subs
Power Handling:
Peak: 3600 watts per pair / 1800 watts each
RMS: 1600 watts per pair / 800 watts each

and 1 alpine 700watt amp for $350 ($75 cheaper)

Eh, power acoustic isn't that great of equipment, really. Just wait, you can definitely get better.

How good is that amp? what are all the specs, the RMS ratings at 2 ohm. Is it one ohm stable?

killin me! lol..
the specs on the alpine v power 700 watt
Operating Voltage:
14.4V DC (11V to 16V)
Rated Power @ 14.4
200 Watts into 4 Ohms, 350 Watts into 2 Ohms & 700 Watts max power

Measured Power @ 14.4 Volts 1% THD:
255.5 Watts into 4 Ohms, 396.7 Watts into 2 Ohms (Max power rating not achievable with acceptable distortion)
Current Draw @ Max Power:
21.3 amps @ 4 ohms, 36.8 @ 2 ohms
Efficiency @ Max Power:
83% @ 4 ohms, 75% @ 2 ohms
Efficiency at 1/3 rated power:
83% @ 4 ohms, 75% @ 2 ohms

so the alpine subs > power acoustics?

but I need a better amp for them? alright, I have the kid coming over tonight with the power a's and 700w, would that amp alone be enough to power the subs? keep in mind I don't need an insane amount of power or bass, I'm driving an eg hatch for gods sake haha.. thanks for all the info guys

What kind of 700 watts? It might over-rated. Those subs can hit over 140 Db. You want those sub to thump then get a good under-rated amp and build a customs ported box. Look into RF, sundown, or AQ.. I know those are expensive but worth getting if you serious beating hard down the block..

i'd like to just stick with the options i have now, the 2 300watt amps or 1 700. basically because it's cheap and i can pick up something better in the long run. i dont want anything extremely loud that it's gunna make my car rattle and sound like **** anyway, i want enough power to push the subs without having any electrical problems or power problems i guess. i'd like to be able to pop the trunk and get a nice crisp, loud sound but i'm not entering a sound contest y'know?

The Alpine subs are better, [SQ] and you would still be way underpowered with the new setup, [even more so then with the Alpine subs].94

the power acoustics amp isn't putting out anything near rated power, and the 300w alpine just isn't enough to get them moving

if anything, i'd use the 300w on 1 sub instead of both.

alright thanks fcm. i kind of figured i'd still be underpowered, but it'd be better than before and i'm guessing be a better temporary set up.

edzy, there is no power acoustics amp, just power acoustic subs.

one set up is: 2 alpine 12" type r subs with 2 alpine 300watt amps
the other is 2 power acoustic 12" fubar(?) 1600 subs and 1 alpine 700watt amp.

but the guy txtd me today and said he let his friend borrow his power acoustic subs and one of them blew I guess, so for now I'm looking to get the 2 alpine subs and the 700watt amp (guessing its better than 2 300 watt amps)

If you can, buy the subs (type Rs) separately from the amps, and get one amp that matches up.

How much are you willing to spend on EVERYTHING?

my budget is unlimited i guess, except i'd be paying for it bit by bit and in the long run. as for now, i'm willing to spend probably another $100 which would probably be going towards wires, loctite and shrink wrap

i know it is. i've spent almost 500 on wires and these used subs/amps. it'd be more of a budget except for i've got about $800 left which i'm trying to keep for college necessities. but like i said, over time i'd be willing to buy things if that's where you were going with it :]
