no hoist... advice plz
this might be a dumb question... but i need to know. is there any way i can pull a motor without a hoist? it is a d16 in a 93 hatch, once i get it pulled it will be sitting there for a while so i can get some engine bay beautification work done. any help would be appreciated. thanks in advance
When I first got my engine I had to take it out of a cadillac deville trunk by myself.
I used this 6' tall clothes rack and 2 cargo straps. It wasn't easy but I got it done.
You could possibly use the same principle with yours.
If you have something tall and strong enough, you could just attach a come along to it and hoist the engine up that way.
A come along is only around $40.You may have to drop your transmission first depending on the weight limit for the come along.

call an ambulance when you start the process so by the time they get there they can pull it off of you. Trust me do this the right way or dont do it at all. Last thing you wanna do it drop the engine on the floor and break something. Dont be cheap and rent a hoist.
get some wood and place under the oil pan and tranny, take off the wheels and lower the car til the engine sits on the wood . unbolt the mounts and raise the car and slide the motor out from under.
never had a hoist. and did my d15 swaps, b18 swaps b20 swaps and will do my next swap in few weeks this way.
