Icon3 ITR LSD question

I am building a GSR on a budget. I want to save money by using a Honda Integra Type R helical LSD instead of a pricey Quaife, Mfactory, etc. I don't want OBX garbage.

I have a 95 USDM GSR swap. Will a JDM Honda ITR work in my stock USDM Tranny?

Yes, you will need to switch out the bearings though....well I should say most people go w/ the cartridge style. You need to shim them up properly though.

Catridge style ? I don't know much about transmissions. I want to do what ever is easiest for installation and more reliable.

watch the youtube video on how to install an LSD. if you don't have the knowledge or perhaps the tools farming out the job isn't a bad idea. cost was the only thing that got me with the gsr lsd upgrade. a good gsr transmission is worth 400, the itr lsd is 350, install 200, supplies 50-80, total $1030. hmotorsonline will sell you a jdm gsr box with the lsd for that cost. a real itr transmission is 1200. once i crunched the numbers it just became cost prohibitive to lsd my gsr transmission.

Is a new ITR LSD really cheaper than an Mfactory?

I had a new ITR LSD install into my GSR transmission. From what I remember the LSD was about 900-950 and the install was 400. They removed the transmission from the car installed the LSD and reinstalled the trans.

ebay, myself and a few other members in the itr forum all bought one. dude had a bunch listed new in the box for 1200 + 65 shipping

used jdm ones are always available for about the same money btw, the 96 spec is identical to the usdm itr tranny of all years.

Is the LSD the same in a JDM GSR tranny as the ITR? So I should just sell my tranny and buy one with a LSD already in it? lol

I believe it. I just got a barely used GT3076R for $825 off ebay. All the Type R LSD's are going for around $400 right now on ebay. . . .

your call but selling your tranny and buying another is often a good way to go since even the jdm trannies are almost always low mile well working units. if i remember right hmotors was selling itr transmission for 1200 and jdmengienscrop does the same with free shipping

HOWEVER....

I personally have ran MFactory gears and loved them. They made me, (not sure if it was produced or if I am special), a set of gears to mirror a B16 tranny... BUT IN AN H22 LSD TRANNY!!!

STRONGLY RECOMMEND ADN SUPPORT!!!

No, the optional SiR LSD is a Viscous LSD and isn't really worth the investment tbh.

The only oem LSD worth considering is the Type-R Helical LSD

Not all JDM ITR trannies are gold. I got mine recently and it's difficult to put into 1st, and notchy in all gears. Got it from Japanese Star Motor through ebay. They were willing to work with me even after I left positive feedback, but I just didn't have the time or inclination to pull the trans and have it looked at. I plan to pull it and swap GSR 4th and 5th soon.
