I am completely stumped... why would my 2001 auto-LS bog when i advance the timing on the distributor by pushing it towards the firewall... it starts to bog down badly almost like its about to turn off.
My car had an issue before where it would die at a red light or stop. and it turned out my timing belt was loose so i replaced it and it no longer stalls out at stops however the car only seems to function fine with the timing retarded all the way on the distributor... any other setting causes problems.
whats going on?? this is my first obd2 car i have no idea whats going on electronics wise.

Did you have this problem before changing the belt? Post how you lined up the valve timing so we can be sure it was set correctly. You might want to check your spark at all four wires and/or replace any ignition components that are due.

ok so the cause of this issue was resolved a long time ago.. I did a compression check on this car and saw that one cylinder was very very low... then once i checked further i knew there was something wrong with a valve so i took off the head and saw that a valve was burned from running lean... apparently the original owner had a problem with a fuel injector and then replaced with with another honda fuel injector that was most likely not the right size.. so that cylinder was running lean and detonating.. Anyways.. I replaced the valve, and the fuel injector. Reassembled the engine and now everything is great.
check your ignition timing with a timing light, thats the only way your gona be able to tell where the problem is with the ignition, moving that dizzy a fraction of a hair will increase or decrease 2 degrees of timing, so if your getting wild with it, your gona cause a problem.
