crx turbo pistons
hi,ive brought a bottomend with darton sleeves, je pistons and eagle rods etc... when i was checking it i noticed that the pistons protrude 1mm above the block, ived had a custom headgasket made to 1.8mm which gives the valves the same clearance as standed(as i was worryed that the pistons would hit the valves). just woundering what you all think( will it be ok?) im going for around 500 hp! ive also had the squish ratio checked an its perfect cheers dan
the head hasnt been milled, ive got stock size valves and at the moment i have got stock cams.ive done that and there's plenty of clearance. the thing im worried about is if its going to run fine.(with the pistons protruding)and that the headgasket isnt going to go because of the protruding pistons.
As long as the head gasket is the right size it'll be good. My pistons protrude the deck .001" and it's all good. I know 1mm is much more than a thousandth of an inch but like I said, the head gasket will be fine.
a lot of boost, 28 psi; a well-built motor and good tuning. it is tons of fun as rarely as i get to drive it because it's a track-only car. it actually makes 700+ now.
