are stainless fuel lines better

I mean for road racing
Are stainless braided lines better than the stock rubber ones?
Like swelling, heat resistance, etc.
I spent alot of time and money with SS lines and whatnot... and honestly... unless its required (like in the cockpit of the car) I wouldnt do it again.
Only input I can give I garnered from the Charles Espenlaub fire incident at the 25 Hours of Thunderhill. The team was planning on stepping up the fuel system in future cars as a preventative measure. Given the pictures and all of that car, I don't know that it would be a bad idea.
HOWEVER, SS-braided lines do require more frequent replacement, and do wear out (see SS-braided brake lines). I don't know if it would be different with the fuel lines not moving as much, but its something to consider.
I don't think you'd see much benefit beyond possible safety implications.

I was there and it lit up the sky. He got out of that car quick too.
BTW if you check out this months Honda Tuning you can see a pic of me when I was crewing for Team Gear X.
Im the one by the door getting ready to pull out a driver. It was practice on friday.
Yep, that's the one Paul. They didn't nail down the cause (that I read), but it was related to the fuel system leaking/ruptured somehow.
And I did see you in that pic! Ha ha!

There would be absolutely no performance or safety advantage of new braided stainless lines over new steel hardlines in the same diameter other than the possible heat shielding advantages of the construction of stainless braided lines with rubber hose inside. That at best would have a miniscule almost unmeasurable advantage.
I assumed you meant SS-braided vs. rubber. SS-braided vs. hardlines would not be any kind of benefit that I can imagine beyond heat shielding, which insulation would fix anyway.
