ok was driving and my rpm needle would just drop dead as if i shut off the car. but it would only do it for about a sec and jump back up it did this about 5 times then the car just died . when i turn it on only the radio and heater come on. no fuel pump no check engine light batt light or oil pressure light light up that starter wont click nothing
am i rite in thinking its the main relay or should i look somewhere else

Do you hear the relay kick on and off when this is happening?

 

The car should crank, even if the main relay is bad (you just wont get fuel). When you turn the key to the ON position, the check enging light should illumiate for a couple seconds and then you should hear the main relay click over as the light turns off.

- When the tach starts jumping around, it is usually a sign of a bad ignitor inside the distributor or a bad connection at the ignitor. Check if you are getting spark when cranking.

 

sounds like an ignitor problem to me

 

i wasn't getting any lights (check eng. batt. oil, seatbelt)or fuel at all when i turned on the ign. only the radio and heater came on. and when you guys say igniter . do you mean coil or the Control Module

 

If you cant crank the car, then you must have a problem with the battery, starter, or the fuses. (Forget about the ignitor if you cant even crank the car.)

Check the battery, ground cables, and the fuses in the engine bay.
