s2000 ACT Clutch and Flywheel sound PLEASE HELP
Alright so over the weekend I installed the ACT street clutch & lightweight flywheel. So I am driving it to do the break in period and I notice a noise. Its almost like a vibrating sound and only comes when the motors in like a mid range RPM and when I let off the gas and let the motor slow down on its own. Its doesnt do it when I am going up through the gears or anything and the clutch shifts awesome. I have done a bit of research and I noticed that some people had posted on s2ki that ACT clutches and flywheels make some kind of noise. I am going to put it up on a lift this afternoon and check and see if maybe its just a heat shield or something is rattling under the car or if the sound is coming from inside the transmisison. I guess really I just wanted to see if anyone else had this kind of problem or sounds.
I have the ACT clutch, I believe the same one you have and have the exact same issue. It was kind of annoying when I first got it but i'm used to it now.
I installed a Stage 4 Six Pad Competition Clutch last week and it does the same thing. I here it mostly when I'm in 4th and let off the gas. Goes away when I step on the gas.
I have the same problem on my stock S2k....well maybe not the same problem, but I do have alot of tranny/clutch noises.

the noise is from the backlash in the tranny, its normal and most cars do it even with the stock clutch. There is nothing wrong.
different rate springs in the clutch can dampen the noise somewhat but its always going to be there.
