Just bought an eg6 with b18c1. However it has a p06 ecu from dx model which means no vtec... Since I am a newbie to ecu things, I need some advises from getting obd1 or obd2? Do I need to get any extra harness instead of just plug in a p72 obd2 on it? I have no idea.. help please... thanks!

But you will need to wire the vtec up physically before any of the ECUs can use it. There is a way to change your existing harness to accept VTEC. BUt it is best to use OBD1 for tuning management. Hard to say how the emissions ***** in Cali are anymore but they may not have a problem with it.

i copied and paste but this is from a pdf.....
4) Wire the VTEC components. (ECU: P13, P28, P30, P61, P72)
• Connect the green wire in the supplied sub-harness to the
green/yellow wire on the 1-pin VTEC solenoid connector.
• Connect the light blue wire in the supplied sub-harness to the
blue/black wire on the 2-pin VTEC oil pressure switch
connector. The remaining black wire on the 2-pin VTEC oil
pressure switch connector needs to be grounded.
• Many JDM engines DO NOT have a VTEC oil pressure switch.
If using a USDM ECU with an engine lacking a VTEC oil
pressure switch, simply splice the light blue sub-harness wire
into the green sub-harness wire. Then connect the green
sub-harness wire to the VTEC solenoid as stated above.
5) Wire the secondary intake runners (ECU: P13, P14, P72)
• Connect the pink wire in the supplied sub-harness to the
pink/blue wire on the 2-pin IAB solenoid valve connector.
The remaining yellow/black wire on the 2-pin IAB connector
needs to be spliced into an ignition switched +12 volt source.
This is the same power source that the O2 sensor uses.

I think it's just a stock one, how can I determine it's a chipped or stock? Is there any sticker originally?

Can I post a picture of my engine bay so you guys can tell whether I need extra wiring for vtec or not? Or it's impossible to see from the engine bay?
i heard you cant do **** to a p06 but chip it for a sohc vtec.i got one in my sohc and it runs fine.just get the right ecu.CANT MAKE LEMONADE WITHOUT LEMONS HOMEBOI.
take a pic of a green plug lookin thing to the pasenger side of your valve cover.even better track the wires and make sure there conected and if so just get the p72.
