I have a 1998 Civc EX. I just picked it up used because my last car was totalled.

The ignition is labeled 0 1 2 and 3.

0 is off.
1 is accessory usually
2 is ON
3 is start

fairly standard on all cars. for most cars position 1 allows you to turn on parking lights, radio, cigarette lighter

position 2 allows you to adjust power mirrors, turn on the fan, adjust power seats,

position 3 is for starting the car.


but there's something very annoying

I just want to listen to my radio, so I put my car on position 1. but the beeping won't stop. Just to check if i wasn't losing my mind, I put my brother's civic 2006 si and my dad's civic 2001 dx in the same position, and it beeps a few times but turns off.

Again, i just want to use my radio. I don't need the car's ignition to be in position 2 (the ON position). I think it just draws too much power from the battery.

I need to turn off the beeping when my key is in position 1. how do i do this?

 

Have you done this with the drivers door open or closed?

 

both!! i've tried it with the door open, inserting the key and turning to 1. the radio does turn on, but the beeping wont stop.

and like normal, i get in the car, close the door. insert the key, turn to 1. radio turns on and the car still beeps.

 

It shouldn't be making that noise. Maybe the sensor on the door is not working.

i fixed it. i have to shut the door really hard!

 

I knew it had to do with the door sensor. I am glad you got it fixed.
