Default mugen gen 1 wing help

I might come into possession of a mugen gen 1 wing. The emblems are slightly faded and might want to pic up another set before it gets painted.

Can someone point me in the direction of where to get authentic ones?

Also, how do I ensure that it is authentic or is there even replicas made of the gen 1?

I might be trading my front ITR seats for it. Would this be a good trade?

Thanks for your help

sorry i think you must have misunderstood me.

I am trading my front ITR seats for a mugen gen 1 wing.

Would this be a good trade?

Also if anyone has any pics of a gen 1 wing on a USDM PY itr that would be great. I tried searching but the one person I could think of took off all his pics. Blah

If the spoiler is in good physical condition I'd say that's a pretty even trade. Good condition spoiler w/ good condition badges averages $600-800. I bought mine for $650 with mint emblems.

Why in the hell would you want to put knock-off emblems on a legit Mugen wing? IIRC, there aren't many (if any) emblems which are made to look 100% like the originals. Might as well just pay 1/3 the price for a knock off wing and be done with it.

Also, IIRC, there is a member here who can get you legit Mugen emblems for said wing. Dont remember who though. I am sure he will chime in.

On a related (but completely useless) note... does anyone else find that wing to be hideous?

(not on you, or your finding "genuine" emblems on ebay, but of them actually being "genuine".)

Oh, and I found that post. User selling the real deal emblems did the 1st reply in the thread... regarding that though... for the cost of an actual wing and emblems I would much rather have a set of very nice tires + cash in my pocket.

Thats okay, no pics needed. I dont care that much. If you were able to get them for that price, and they are indeed real then you got a sweet deal. Of course, if you got some knock-offs which are made so well that you cant tell the difference, who gives a flying fig anyway? I sure wouldn't care!

I'm sure there is some (former) GM designer who made that exact same argument about this to the people who gave it a green light for production...

Comparing the universally hated Pontiac Aztec to a Mugen spoiler is....strange. Sure some people simply don't like that gen 1, but there are scores of people who do. In fact, I would dare to say that it's more liked than disliked.

To answer the OP's question, the mugen emblems are no longer made. King Motorsports had a few sets, that's where I purchased mine 4 years ago, but they out of stock now.

The most common "fake" mugen emblem is made of thin aluminum. It has an embossed glossy feel, but is overall pretty flat. The real mugen emblem is made of plastic and has chrome "mugen" letters. It's thicker and has more texture.

It would suck to put fake emblems on an authentic spoiler, good luck on your search.

Oh, I do have both (fake and real) in my possesion. If you guys want pics, I'd be happy to take some to help illustrate the difference.

LOL, that is true. The Aztec was indeed functional. That's about all it was.

I do admit that if the gen 1 didnt have those extensions pointing towards the tail lights, it would look 100% better.

But looking from Mugen's standpoint - the gen 1 is nothing more than the stock ITR spoiler with a molded gurney flap. Height/width are exactly the same as a stock itr spoiler. So I guess they added those downward extensions to give it a more unique look over stock.

So basically people paid $1500+ USD for a wing that looks worse than stock and was ever so slightly more functional? Oh wait, I forgot, they also get to rock some Mugen kit! w00t!

I keed, I keed... sort of... [flame-suit][/flame-suit]

I was actually asking for $200 shipped from Japan for two like new emblems. Congrats for getting them at $45, that person didn't know what they had. The market price on here for one used emblem is around $60-$100, depending on condition. **** I can't even get them that cheap from Japan.

Gosu, if you do buy my wheels I will throw in an emblem I have just sitting around and I can get you another at my cost. LMK.

You need to understand that Mugen made no "fluff" parts for DC2. Its all wind tunnel tested, track proven and best of all uses OEM fittament. No rice here. Had that wing said APC down the side you might be on to something.

You know those wont fit, right? They do fit nicely over the Mugen logo of a gen 2 tough.
