Default Pulling right + wheel shake when letting off gas...

Ok so when I am cruising on the highway and let off the gas the steering wheel shakes left/right a little, plus the car pulls right. It drives ok when gas is pressed. After searching I was thinking motor mounts but would that cause both problems? Possibly axles? Anyone have these problems before?

Yup. I would also take a good look at the rest of your suspension, stuff like the bushings, shocks, etc.

its weird though because i would think if an axle was bad and causing shaking on deceleration it would do the same during acceleration

Wheel bearing is a likely cause

Its not the wheel bearings I had them checked out when I got my new tires installed. The car is not aligned yet, but the wheels are balanced. I am probably going to try the motor mounts first.

Well if you know the car needs an alignment, why not do that first?

Cause it only pulls when I let off the gas at 50+ mph. Doesnt pull all the time. Plus the wheel shake is kinda weird. Im getting it aligned anyway that was going to get done no matter what, it just happens that I discovered this problem and was wondering if anyone had similar things happen and what the problem was. Energy Suspension motor mount inserts are pretty cheap too, so thats the best place to start.

Any alignment tech should do a full steering/suspension inspection before even starting the alignment. Since you need the alignment anyway, for no extra charge it's a good way to figure out what's actually wrong.

Ya I figured they would. Last time I had a car aligned I found out I needed new tie rods so hopefully they will find my problem.

Yeah they have incentive to find everything wrong for 2 reasons...

1. They can try to sell you more parts/labor

2. If they only do the alignment and it doesn't fix the problem, they'll be doing the comeback alignment for free

check your alignment and axles but have u drop your car or got new tires and didnt balances them. cuz the shaking could be cause by not balancing your tires

I think all the suggestions listed here are possible, except none of them are the type of things that would only occur while decelerating and not happen while accelerating.

It seems like it would be something driveline related. So when the car is accelerating and all the driveline parts are having pressure applied to them nothing vibrates.

Then when decelerating the parts have no pressure applied to them, so they are free to vibrate.

The car only pulls to one side. It would seem like checking the axle and associated parts on that side would be a place to start looking.

I agree with you. Its definitely more than just suspension. I am going to replace the motor mount inserts anyway because its cheap and it seems like when I change gears sometimes it "jerks" the motor after letting the clutch out during normal driving. Its a stage 3 clutch but it just feels like its twisting the motor or something. If that doesnt do it hopefully the alignment guy will spot something wrong. Thanks for all the suggestions.

I have the exact same problem, when im driving in 5th and let off the gas the car jerks to the right like the tire is coming apart. my bearings are good, brand new tires all balanced my wheel isnt bent. It scares the **** out of me.

Whats been mentioned is good advice to follow. Get an alignment, if that doesnt help, check your axles and tie rods.

never hurts to double check your ball joints (before the wheel comes off if possible).

i had a bad front end vibration issue that turned out to be front lower motor mounts.
filled them in with dow window weld and they are better than new.
