I have a 97 Civic Hatch and when I am doing over 70 mph the front left wheel starts to shake and the steering wheel also. What can the problem be? Bad alignment or what?

well..im guessing u say the front left because someone saw it shaking while u were driving... im guessing a bent rim perhaps ? and maybe a alignment is needed. (im guessing someone hit the curb hard enough to bend your rim and mess ur alignment up, just a guess tho)

Well, no one saw the wheel shaking, but you can feel the vibration from inside the car. I thought it was an alignment problem but I am not sure.

Go to a tire shop and have them check and rebalance the wheels. My guess is it is an unbalanced wheel.

It could be a number of things.

Wheel balance, wheel bearing, axle.

Jack your car up and leave it in neutral. Sprin your front tire manually back and forth, if you hear a grinding noise then it's your wheel bearing.

Clicking could be joints/axles.

it could be a number of things. the wheel could just need to be rebalanced, could be a bent rim or bad tire. These are all things you can easily have checked when you have the tire balanced. You could have a bad/ warped brake rotor or caliper that is hanging up. Do a runout test on the brake rotor to tell if it is warped make sure the brake calipers are moving freely if not repair or replace any damaged comp. This is what I found on mine after countless places telling me the rotors were bad or caliper wasn't working. Check for play in the ball joints, tie rods inner/outer again replace damaged and have the car aligned good luck and let us know what you find

It could be a lot of camber wear on the inside of your tire that was what it was for me just reach your hand around and feel the inside of your tire and if it is smooth get new tires.

You mean get new tires AND correct your camber.

Though camber is usually only a problem on drops more than 2"

shaking at a certain speed (esp. right around or above 70) is out of balance. the bent rim is the second to that. but usually a bent rim, if it's bad is noticable at slower speeds as well. also if you have aftermarket wheels or anything other than honda or acura wheels you may need hub spacers. figured that out the hard way on a customers car. the lugs can only do so much to center the wheel on the hub.
