HELP PLEASE!!!!!!!!!! hi i have a 99 civic ex sedan with a 95 integra ls swap non v-tec. but anyways i started my car up this morning and there was a loud ticking noise coming from under the hood. i left the car running and i put mr ear on the valve cover for a lissen and to me it sounds like its in there. but something told me to put my ear on the intake manifold and when i did it is a lot louder. and to state the oveouse the intake manifold is conected to the head. so is there any one out there that can help me out please. and if any one knows of any sites or any other places where i can get the replacement parts that i would need for a low price. PLEASE HELP!!

 

Check your valve clearance, and spell correctly.

 

I DONT KNOW HOW TO CHECK THE VALVE CLEARANCE IM NOT A MOTOR GUY I AM A PAINT AND BODY GUY THATS Y I AM ON HERE TRYING TO GET ALL THE HELP I CAN

 

AND SPELLING IS NOT ON MY STRONG SIDE SORRY

 

its either your valves ticking from improper clearance or you have a rod knocking. take it to " a motor" guy and get a second opinion.

 

i put my ear on the intake manifold and when i did it is a lot louder. and its not a hard tick its just loud and i didnt loose any power or andthing it still runs the same it just has a loud tick

 

are u sure this noise just came up most hondas have a ticking sound. also make sure your pcv hose is not pinched or clogged as they also make a ticking sound when the hose is pinched.

 

what is a (or the) pcv hose

 

and yeah the noise just came up it never dont that befor trust me!!!!!!!!

 

To check the valve clearance you need feeler blades. Take off the valve cover and check the clearance between the cam and rocker arm.

 

thanks guys! you guys have been great help i just did what you say and the ticking is no more. wow sounds so much better thanks again. by the way ALL of the rocker arm's were really really loose!!!!!!!!!!!!
