97 integra brake problem, stuck new caliper?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
our 97 integra ls needed new brakes this weekend.
@ 95k we replaced the front rotors and pads and did a flush.
@110k we replaced the rear pads
This weekend i replaced the front pads. I noticed before the change that the passenger front rotor was heat affected. It seemed to have gotten hot at some point and continued to stay hot.
So after removing the front pads, i noticed the passenger side was more worn than the drivers.
As i was pushing the piston back into the caliper i noticed that it was froze.
Ok that's the problem, or i thought.
After replacing the passenger caliper and flushing the entire system it pulls to the left or prob the right.
When i brake hard i have to steer to the left to keep it straight. Not something i would want the wife to drive in this condition.
If i brake w/o holding onto the steering wheel it pulls to the left.
So when i come back to the house i check the brakes. the passenger side is hot as hell( i sprayed sme simple green on the rim to clean it) and it smoked.
I bled the front brakes again and still no dice.

i put the front wheels up in the air.
With the car in park and the wheels off the ground you should be able to move the wheel/tire esp if it's in neutral.
The driver side with the old calipermoved a little and the passenger side with the old caliper didn't move, as if the brake was on.
Next i had my wife get in the car and put it into drive. The driver side wheel started to spin and the passenger side did not at all.
I was still not able to move the passenger side wheel with the left side spinning.
So, i have established that the passenger side with the new caliper does not rotate when lifted off the ground.
It sounds like a stuck brand new caliper but what else could it be??

sounds like a bad caliper to me. if it pulls left then your problem is in the right side. if you cannot move the wheel then on the right side when in neutral then that caliper is no stuck. i would open that bleeder and see if you can spin the wheel after it is open. if you can than it is a restricted line and if you can't then it is the caliper.
sounds like the passenger caliper is staying applied at all times and this is also the reason why it gets really hot. The caliper should self-adjust but since it isnt then the caliper might defected. First check the lines though like explained by dc2much
my uncle said to check the sliding bolts and that they may be stuck. I could have sworn that they were greased pretty good.
the sliding bolts had plenty of grease. i opened the bleeder and it didn't loosen up.
I had to really pry the caliper off. After disconnecting the brake fluid line, i tried to push the piston back into the caliper it only went part way.
It was difficult to push in and it would not push back flush with the caliper like it was supposed to.
I have a feeling it's the caliper.....

replaced the new caliper and we are in business. Thank god that was the only issue. I was hoping that was it.
I did notice that the right rear wasn't moving as freely, but that'll be another day.
