Default Ground Wire Behind Cluster ??? HELP

So i was trying to take my dash out and found that there was a busted ground wire behind the cluster. Does any one know where it goes too ???

This first foto shows it would be to the right of the cluster and left of the center line of the EG....

A closer look.

the wire was coming from the left as shown...

There's a tab that is behind the cluster (on the dash ledge) that a ground wire is supposed to clip onto.

Wait, what's going on here ... what exactly is busted? That wire IS grounded there, as far as I can tell. It's a little clip -- I just saw this when I was under there last month (to install my rear intermittent wiper relay).

If it's the case that the wire is broken somewhere else, then Houston we have a problem. If you've removed the wiring to take out the dash, then I would look on the wiring to see where the broken wire is .... unless I've completely misunderstood what's going on here.

Well, the other end has to be in the dash wiring harness...seems to me if you look there for the same colored wire, you'll find it. Start from the fuse box and find the wire there, then chase it down. I remember seeing that wire when I pulled my dash out...almost missed plugging it back in too.

ive looked a bunch and have found nothing yet... i wanted to make sure it wasnt some thing the previous owner had "added"....
I will continue to look for the other end... if you happen to know what it goes to, that would be super...

Looks like if it snapped the other end will be taped up in the harness, time to do some tape cutting.

I'll be in town on the 31st so if you need help let me know, I have nothing planned.

Ok, lets get it done. Are you going to do a leakdown anyway? I heard some places put oil in the cylinders for storing, so maybe the oil on the plugs was from that. Just being optimistic that is all.
