Default New honda guy

hey guys, My name is Armin, im 18 years old, and I just purchased a honda civic today. Its not really my first honda, but kind of is.

In the past I have had a 91 crx shell, that I never touched just sold, a 94 purplee ej1 that I also sold after finding out it had a bad headgasket, Today i picked up a 93 Civic coupe.

1993 Honda Civic DX
sony cd player
alpine speakers
ebay lowering springs
aem intake
dc sports header
mugen knockoff strutbars
8,000k hids
si style taillights
d16z6 engine w/ 5spd
15" drag wheels gunmetal with polished lip
Some cat back exhaust

Well my first question is I put a new map sensor in it, and that seemed to fix most of my problems, but the car still runs rich? any explanations where to go next?

Second question is why it wont redline past 6100rpm.. I hear these engines go to 7200 rpm? at first it wouldnt go past 4500rpm, then I switched the two map sensor plugs and it didnt run, switched them back and it ran and went to 6100rpm..

any help would be appreciated

here is some started pics.

and with my brothers 97 coupe.

im at school right now, but where do I go to look at what ecu is in there? and Yeah it has a check engine light on, went to scan it at the local parts store to find out that I have to take it to dealer to get it scanned.

and yeah I plan on painting it once I get it running properly

Also I cant drive a steady speed, it jerks if I do, I either have to speed up or slow down around 30-40mph.

i learned that o2 sensors can get lazy and go bad/while not setting off a CEL

so pull out your o2 sensor and the condition of it, replace if neeeded

don't go to the dealership. check the sticky at the top of the 92-00 page for CELs..well here it is anyways: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/how-pull-cel-d4-srs-abs-codes-code-lists-1901557/

just start fixing your CELs one by one..then check ignition and o2 sensor and timing if everything else fails (you can search the forums or use a helm's/haynes to help you with this stuff).

Do you know where the ecu is located? Also do you know how to identify the ecu you have? These guys all gave you good info but are assuming you know how to do everything and know where everything is.

the carpet where the ecu is torn, so yeah I know where thats at, but I dont know what kind and have never messed with a ecu before.

my buddy took it out for a spin and he had it going 40mph in 5th gear at 1500rpm? is that normal

also he said that he was doing about a 100-110 at 4krpm in 3th gear? that seems kinda strange? is that normal and dont ask why he took it that speed.
and it wont redline past 5500 in first but in second to third it goes to 6k

bump, today my car shut off randomly, and the oil light and battery light came up, started right back up, and figured out I have a bad headgasket, but can not figure out why I am running rich..

I got 75miles out of a full tank of gas... What is going on!
