Locked out, battery dead, tried everything.
Whats up guys! My friend has a Honda CRV with power locks. The battery died, then he managed to lock his keys inside somehow. We can't manually unlock the doors using the coat hanger trick, I managed to snag his keys that were in the ignition with two coat hangers wired together and the key fob broke. Tried popping the hood with a coat hanger hook to get it power so I can unlock the doors, but I can't see the lever or get my fingers under the hood to get it that way.
The only thing I can think of to try is to somehow get power to the car, then reach in with the coat hanger and unlock it. But there it sits, impenetrable, mocking me. I've been trying to unlock this motherfokker for 4 hours now, and NOTHING I can think of is working.
Does anyone have any ideas?

if its a first gen you should be able to get to the power wire on the alt. from under the car. that wire will feed power to the battery and the rest of the car. if its a newer one you can always crawl under it and check. you can ground it anywhere under the car.
Yeah its older. So I can run a wire from a new battery to the alternator power wire, run a ground to the chassis, and that should give me power? I'll try that, then report back.
I only had like some 24ga speaker wire so I couldn't hold it on there very long or it would burn up, but I got the coat hanger into position holding the unlock button in the up position and connected it. It got power, but didn't unlock it.
So when my buddy got back we left the unlock button in the neutral position and I connected it and he quickly pulled it up.
WORKED LIKE A CHARM! THANK YOU!! :-)
