yes you can get forged parts, look at eagle, JE just to start, cant tell you how much power cause it will vary, the engine could last very long you just gotta have it tuned right

1. Are you kidding? You can build a 1.6L to make 500+ hp with about 2,500-$3,000. Search on youtube 400 or 500whp D16 or something along those lines. There are A LOT of them.

2. The engine could last almost as long as a stock Honda engine if it is built and maintained correctly

3. Yes there are plenty of options for engine internals

You can make great power and have reliability from the d16 setup. I use fj ibeams with vitara pistons. just make sure you match a turbo up to ur goal, have a great tune, and do a little more search on the D. There are tons of guys makeing good power like 400hp. Bisi has his bandwago making over 700hp and it is a D. It all depends on ur budget, R&D, and time.

So I hear the compression ratio has a lot to do with performance. I'm kinda new to the whole "tuning" thing. I have a d16 and just bought a turbo for it. It's not installed yet as I am in Iraq until June. My question is:

What exactly is the compression ratio for a D16 and is there anyway you can monitor/test it?

dude, the answer to everyone of your questions could be found if you just did a little searching, go to the forced induction forum

it really all comes down to how much power you want and what your plans for the car are. is it a daily or toy
lots of people run the vitra/eagle set up and make good power.
