Changed Timing Belt Now Have Revving Noise
I changed my timing belt, water pump, spark plugs, distributor at a local shop on my 2002 Honda Accord SE. About a day later, I noticed a whining/squeaky sound when driving at a low speed (under 10mph) or when parked. Took it back to shop and the mechanic adjusted the belts and the noise went away.
I am now experiencing a loud revving noise when I hit the accelerator to speed up and notice it occurs between the 2 to 3 RPM mark before it goes away. During the revving noise, it feels like the engine is working too hard to speed up. Once I reach a constant speed, there is no noise at all.
I took it back to the mechanic and he didn't think it was a problem at all. He says that the 2002 Accord had transmission problems and this may be the source of the noise. I don't believe that is the case because prior to changing the timing belt, I did not have the loud revving noise.
Thank you for your help.
