Default RPM needle tweaking out???

Does anyone know why my rpm needle tweaks out when i pass 6k rpm? This just started happening out of nowhere. I have a 00 Ek hatch with Jdm Itr motor. I checked all the grounds and i have no loose grounds. What else should I check? It ONLY does it when i pass 7k rpm. So when i redline first gear, in second gear its fine, then after it passes 7k rpm again, it keeps tweakin out. Could it maybe be my cluster? I have a Si cluster that I've had for about 5 years now.

Also I have NO cel

You have an ITR motor in a 00 Honda Civic harnessed with a different wiring scheme and ECU with an Si cluster, ha ha there are a few things that could be wrong. Sensors, ECU, or cluster would be the main offenders. If you can check with another cluster.

I'm using 00 Si harness running chipped p28 with itr base map. Well first i had this itr motor in my 96 ek hatch till i got rear ended, so i pulled the swap out and bought a 00 ek hatch. I changed my engine harness since 96-98 harness dont work. Everything works perfect on my 00 hatch but only problem is just the rpm. I had this si cluster on my 96 hatch and it worked perfect.

Something similar happened to me. Whenever I floored it, the speedo will just go ape-****. I swapped an LSVTEC into my ej8 and what my problem turned out to be was my VSS. I swapped the metal gear (the one that goes down to the transmission) from a 'teg LS into my y8 VSS, which had a plastic gear. It fixed my problem. Good luck with it

yea speedo tweaks out cuz of vss. I dont think tach is messed by the vss. Someone told me since i have a 2000 civic, the dizzy sends signal to tach for the rpm, but I'm not 100% sure. They told me to maybe change the dizzy.

You are halfway correct. You need to replace the ICM, its located inside your dizzy. It sends a signal to your tach, and when they go bad, it will make your tach jump around giving you a wrong reading.

Its rectangular shaped and sits next to the coil. Hope this helps.
