Default P0219 Engine Overspeed Condition???????

My RSX recently threw P0219... i found some info and some reasons why it may have came on but how do i remove it??? Car drives fine, it came on soon after a 600 mile drive. Drove back home 600 miles and everything is driving fine????

Inspection is due next month so i need to figure out how to fix this

well you can go to autozone and ask to borrow their scanner and clear the codes. Or you can reset your car by taking the cables off the battery for awhile and then putting them back on.

The scanner will clear it but once it is saved I don't think the battery trick will work unless the code is not stored in the ECU's memory

If it comes back on, you've got an issue. If it doesn't, then something read wrong and triggered the code for some unknown reason.

If it doesn't return, who cares!?

You just have to wait longer with the newer cars. What will happen is when you reinstall the cables after a longer period of time the computer will re-calibrate itself and usually eliminate any stored CEL codes if it doesn't find them again. It still works but I don't suggest it as much as just scanning it and deleting it. Plus I hate resetting radio codes and radio stations

just clearing the codes won't nessarily fix the problem(s). it will take away the check engine light but it could come back. the computer has what they call KAM, keep alive memory, using a discount scanner only clears the stored codes, but disconnecting the battery cable for about 5 minutes will clear the codes and the KAM. there are high dollar scan tools that clear codes and kam as well, but discount only has a $60 scan tool that just read and clears codes, nothing else. hopefully this helps you out some
