Looking for a little help on self-tuning/engine management for 94 LX.
Hey guys, I've got a few modifications to my 94 LX - eBay CAI, NGK Iridium Plugs, Thunder Spark Plug Wires and soon to have the eBay stainless steel header installed tomorrow. I was wondering what are my options for ECU modification? Possibly the Apexi unit, I believe its called the Neo, that I have seen on eBay, but I'm not to sure about what it does and if it will benefit me. I certainly do not (at the moment) have the funds for an AEM EMS, but that would be awesome - I'm working on a budget.
Also - how do I go about advancing the timing on my car? I was told by an acquaintance of mine that I can twist the distributor cap and hopefully gain a few horses - but do I push it AWAY from me, or towards me? I tried this today but had trouble getting that third bolt off (the screw) so gave up because it was getting dark.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

The modifications you currently have do not really warrant any sort of engine management, or messing with timing and the distributor.
Leave it alone and save your money. Once you start building the motor or going forced induction, then you'll want to spend the money on good engine management and tuning.
