Default tri-y big tube fitment question

I'm starting a new build to my 99 EK hatch, and I got a replica tri-y big tube header. When I took it out of the box, it became verry clear to me, this wasn't going to be a bolt on affair. Now i haven't even held it up to see how much longer it is than a honda header, since I'm too busy getting my b20/R together.

Any info on fitment will be appreciated, as in "can i still fit a cat. conv.? must the center pipe be modified?

Pics would also be awsome and helpful.

the only way u can make it fit is to custon make a test pipe or buy a universal high flow cat bolt it up and cut some of the exhaust on the cat back off and re weld the flange to the exhaust pipe from the cat back...i bought one and had to do this if u know someone that can weld with stainless have them do it..it shouldnt be that hard to have this problem fixed

Hytec makes a header like this and I took it off of a hatch with a full RSR exhaust. The mid pipe was modified to bolt straight to the header. There would be no way to put a cat on it. It had a different kind of flange on it that only bolted to the header.

I have had to make a custom cat before for my teg, I installed a type r header witch has a 3" donut gasket, I could not for the life of me find a cat. con. to fit.

Do you remember the distance between the hytech header and the un-modified center pipe? I'd like to have an idea of what i can fit.

Pics would be really useful.

my header being a big tube header was about 4 inches longer than the stock exhaust manifold and the test pipe was as long as the stock cat so what i did was cut about 4 1/2 inches off the test pipe and had to open the diameter on the one side to make it fit the big tube of the header and added an o2 bung for o2 sensor bolted the rest of it up to my tsuedo cat back and was on my way

4 1/2 inches longer is not all that bad, I should be able to fit a high flow cat. easely enough.
