help rebuilding b18c1 motor?
I just started tearing stuff off!! then when i got to something important looking...i replaced it with a part that looked almost the same, I even had to force some same looking stuff into holes, i'm not sure if they belonged there, but that's where i PUT EM!!
No, i'm just joking, all i did when i wanted to rebuild a motor was go and purchase 3, yes i said it, 3 different manuals for that car/motor, and read each section (like general engine overhaul procedures) and deciphered the differences, if there was 3 different ways to do it, i just came on this site and read for like 2 hours til i figured it out. all and all it's pretty simple, just TAKE YOUR TIME, do EVERY step, no matter how small it may seem, its the difference between a fast, smooth motor and this

ACTUALLY....the "name brand" cam broke on the distributor end, so the distributor wasn't spinning when the motor was around 4K rpms, then the blown block happened, but your right, it had a tune, but it was a tune for the old motor in the car, which didn't have as much done to it and the blown one did, so the tune wasn't right for it.
and for rick4k, if you got the time, just dive in, i did it that way, with help from HT and my uncle who's been doing this for like 30 yrs, (but i told him only to help me if there was something major i was gonna miss) you can rebuild it, it's simple, i just took the precautions of getting everything machined, even if you think it's good, do it anyways, cuz in the end it won't hurt anything, just make it better. read the manuals, read through HT and BING BADA BOOM you'll have a motor (hopefully with less BOOM)
