i want a greddy turbo but need to know if i need to also buy the intercooler. what will be the effect of not having an intercooler - is it harmful to the engine in anyway or does it just decrease performance?

 

you can run w/ no intercooler....but stay at the stock set psi...and try to get one asap.

 

youll have more hotter exhaust gas, cool those babies down

 

Not to mention hotter intake temperatures to begine with. It will run, but trust me, if you don't have one, you will want one eventually so might as well invest in one since you're going to boost. Intercooler = denser charge + less risk of detonation

 

I've been running without an intercooler for months while my intercooler was on backorder. Even when I don't boost that much, the intake pipe gets extremely hot and you can't even keep your hand on it. If you don't have a choice like me, then make sure you retard your timing. If I had to do it all over again, I'd wait till my intercooler arrived before installing the turbo. Not worth the risk, IMO.

i'm pretty sure once you add a BOV or IC then the kit is no longer street legal.
