Default Swapping in a new rear hatch - EK

Hey guys,

I've just purchased a slightly used rear hatch, complete with glass for my 99 CX Hatch. I would like to swap out the old for the new.

My main point of concern is the lock mechanism. I'll need to change in the lock from my old hatch, into the new so my key still works.

Any insight on how to do this?

Thanks!

shouldn't be hard at all.

The part that you will transfer over is about the size of a lugnut. The part that the key actually goes into.
I haven't done a rear hatch but I've done plenty of door handles.

Thanks for the reply.

So it's just the lock solenoid itself then. I'm guessing I'll have to take off the interior plastic on the hatch and find out how to safely remove it.

When you were doing door handles, how was the lock solenoid attached? What tools were required to remove it?

Thanks for your help ... this seems to be a really oddball question that no one really knows anything about. Just trying to do my research before I start ripping sh*t apart.

The plastic clips that hold on the connecting rods can be trouble sometimes.
As far as attachment to the sheet metal I have seen clips that just slide off to thin large nuts.

It's pretty simple once you dig in. Take pics and share!
