Civic 2000 paint valve cover
Hey,
I wanted to paint the valve cover for my civic, I was wondering what I should keep in mind not to screw it it up, is it safe to take off the cover and leave the underneath exposed for so long? and also can I use the gasket again or would it need to be replaced/re oiled or something?
Thanks a lot

It is ok to take off and leave for a while. Just cover up what is exposed on the engine so nothing gets in it while your painting... And as far as the gasket goes, be ready to buy a new one, but as long as it doesn't tear or look old and dry rotted when it comes off you can re use it.
yeah they should be okay with high temp. take the valve cover off buy paint stripper if it has paint on it already. then was off all the oil and **** and sand the top. make sure to cover all the holes with a rolled paper towel or something. spray with primer sand a little more and then spray with the colored paint. do a couple of coats and let it dry. careful when bolting back on cus the bolts will brake if you over torque them or cross thread them.
I just painted mine. turned out great. just be careful and take your time. coat after coat after coat. it will look good if you use a base like white, silver, black then spray colored layers over. thats what i did with mine.
