vtec not always working

Default vtec not always working

Hey im kinda new here but i got told to come here and ask ?'s well heres one my vtec doesnt always engageing i have a b16a in a 95 civic ex i hear it but sometimes theres no pull, but when it engages i hear and feel it, shouldnt it engage everytime i hit the vtec stage.

If you aren't going fast enough it won't engage.

And sometimes it might not work if the car is below normal temperature.

well im deffly going fast enough over 30 and the temp ir always around a quarter warm when i try hitting vtec what coudl it accually be cuz i have oil in the engine, i figured it was the knock sensor but my friend says it has nothign to do with it

Are you saying that sometimes when the Vtec engages, there's no extra power but you can tell something happens? Or are you saying that sometimes it is not engaging at all and absolutely nothing happens at the Vtec engagement point?

i do have a check engine light on coudl tht be the problem ot is for the speedsensor and knock sensor

sometimes it is not engaging at all and absolutely nothing happens at the Vtec engagement point and sometimrs when it engages i feel the full effect extra power

My friends 97' GSR had a blownhead gasket when we put it all back to together, he had a Check Engine light, when he tried poppin V it'd bog and wouldnt engage period. Checked the DTC P0117 - Coolent Temp Circuit Low input Turned out when he put it back together he ripped out a wire from the connector on accident.. soldered it back and now it engages... I'd Suggest Fixing your DTC then try it..

He means checking your Check Engine light code, and fixing whatever it says is wrong.

k np how/ where would i run a wire from the knock sensor that i putting in there is no connector for it
