90 Honda Civic Auto wont shift slips bad need help plz
Thanks for taking the time for me guys.
The old lady has a 90 Honda Civic with 200,000 miles on it. We she told me yesterday that its been making some noise. well i get in it, its not making noise it wont shift. (the noise is the car reving real high lol) If you rev it real high and kind of feather the gas it will shift but it seems to go from 1st to 3rd. then it will go into 4th. When it is stuck in 1st say your doing 15mph the rmps sound like they are around 3500 if you let off the gas then hit it again nothing is there tell you rev it a little more. When it does hit man it shift hard.
I checked the fluid and its fine and looks to be clean. No material in it and does not look to be burned.
Now im not sure if its the front pump, the TCM, or if the tranny is gone.
Please give me a few ideas. Thanks guys
edit: oh and when i put it into 2nd it will not move at all. Its like its in neutral.

ok if you think the tranny is dying could be. I looked and looked and saw nothing online about this issue. I do not know if it has a TCM but that seems to come up a lot for other Honda's.
When I check the fluid it was clean. No clutch material in it. Do you think the tranny is dead or do you think its the front pump? Running in revers it goes just fine. Any other gear no problem (however it does seem to skip 2nd.)

I agree the trans is on the way out.
Dont see the pump just taking out second gear though,it could be a valvebody problem but that is usually caused with dirt/friction material and you said the fluid is good so not sure.

Well looking for a new used car. She wants a Honda real bad again cause she likes small cars so its starting to sound like a Accord.
Guys thats for your time. It looked like this was the best Honda forum and I think it is.
