i am also wondering why the engine bay is black and not GPW?? .. i'll call the dealer and see if they have any reports on it
Well the engine bay being a different color than the car is your dead giveaway that it was repainted. I am with IDanny it might be a salvage title vehicle, or at the very least in a major accident. There are better examples out there.
9900!!! LOL NO THANKS
i paid 9500 for my stock 03 SS/Red
that one has a torn top, bad seat, and looks like it came from hot import nights... and its MORE MONEY??? WUHHH?

idk how you guys find these great deals.. everything in this tri-state area (NJ/NY/PA) is more expensive than most of the country
just got off the phone and the guy is saying that he ran a carfax and it has a clean title.. the original owner was from texas.. i then asked him why is the engine bay black on a white car?.... no answer.. so i guess ill pass this one up.. too many crooked cars salesman out there selling cars they know have issues
So look on the national market (ebay, expanded search in autotrader, etc). Either way, I'd avoid that car, even with low miles (which I would doubt is accurate), I would look for a better example for $10k. It's a shame that S2k's are now POS driven by ricers that further push the value down, but it is what it is. Sad when Civics are worth as much as S2ks and cost half as much new.
I semi-agree, however I don't think the more recent ricey s2k's that have been popping up haven't cause the value crash, they are a result of the value crash.
The market for sport-roadsters in the mainstream market has dwindled drastically since even 4 years ago. Raising living costs + a hurting economy has smashed the demand for even slightly higher maintenance cars, cars that have less day to day convenience, and 'seem' to not be MPG friendly (which in the s2k's case seems to be just a bad assumption by buyers because as we all know, for how much the car performs it gets stellar MPG).
This has raised the availability as cars such as ours owned by 'average-joes' (i.e. not enthusiasts, just simple day-to-day owners) are being traded in more and more for cars that are more practical. Availability up, demand down means value crash to stabilize and unfortunately that's how their getting in the hands of people that well; don't do our beloved s2k's justice.

Obviously the paint issues raise some red flags...
I'd also be concerned with how it was driven, given the "fast and furious" parts that were added... 47 grand on the odo is good, but you can still do some damage in 47 thousand miles...
Also the damages done to it support my concerns... Steer clear of that one IMO.
