Car won't start or stay running without pushing on the throttle?
I have a 1987 accord 2.0 liter carburated ran fine all day and now it doesn't. When I keep it running it is running really rich i can smell the fuel in the exhaust and uses alot of gas. I checked the float level and it is fine. I am just wondering if this problem is specific to the carb or if something else could be the problem before i go spend the money on a new carb. Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Well i put a used carb that came off a running car a month ago and i still have the same problem. I checked the plugs, cap, rotor, and spark all good. I am still at a loss. Somebody please shoot me an idea.
No idea dude. My civic has vurtualy the same problem. I smell gas all day. Changed the air filter and put some carb cleaner in the gas. Nothing. Just going to part it out now so I can buy my winter car lol
Hey I got an idea, does it smell when driving with the window down? When driving does it smell when the window is close? If so when driving with the window down your car might have a hole in the floor. Check that out.
Your an idiot and should quit posting stupid stuff. As for the problem i finally got it fixed after not dealing with the car for a couple weeks. When I swapped the carbs one of the larger hoses had come undone on the driver side of the carb that came off of one of the plastic white diaphrams. Hooked back up and away we go. I feel so dumb but that is how we learn. We covered the top of the carb while is was running and it continued to run so i knew I had a large vaccum leak.
