Anyways, i am concerned about the safety of it >.<! i was reading a cause for alarm and saw the clutch pedal kill switch, then did some more browsing and read somewhere(maybe other cars) that theres a clutch cancel, where you don't have to use the pedal to start? Im not sure, but is there really a way to bypass the switch(besides hot wiring it or what not)?

Also, the switch i have is really tiny and only rated for 3A at 125VAC and 1.5A at 250VAC. Can the switch handle the voltage from the clutch switch?

 

Yes. The switch is adequate. I have a really neat kill switch in my 92 Euro-R hatch. The hot side of the main relay to the ecu. I tapped into that wire and ran a switch to ground. If someone tries to start the car, The ECU fuse pops. Even if the thief finds the switch and toggles it (theives always look for hidden switches), its too late. The ECU fuse is popped!

 

That is such a good idea, I am using this one. With my massive amount of good luck I will forget about it and pop fuses daily.

 

It took me a while to get used to it! I keep a box of extra fuses by the spare tire. But, Hey, the bags under my eyes went away. Now that I dont have to sleep with one eye open.

Nice! lol i dont really understand relays enough to hook one up to my ecu, but if you have any links or wanna provide some incite it would be appreciated(because Wikipedia isnt cutting it).

Could you also use one of the horn buttons in series with the ignition switch, where you would need to press one of the two horn buttons to complete the circuit? That way its a 50/50 chance they could alert people plus it would be one of the last places they look?

 

I have a hidden one for fuel, it works well!

 

AH! Question! ok, well i wasnt sure how to access the clutch wires(i guess you have to remove the fuse box?) well anyways i just did a fuel pump kill instead. I used the same switch but wasn't aware the wire gauge was 16, not 18... So if i used around 2 feet of 18g wire for the fuel pump(no relay, following cause for alarm again, but using a different switch location) would that be fine? I talked to an electrician and he says 12v is nothing so the 18g is fine, but someone else said the wire would burn. Can someone clear this up for me please?
