Default Swapping 2003 Accord Tranny for 04/05. Possible?

The tranny on a 2003 Accord (Auto, 4-cyl) on a friend's Honda just failed.
I am aware of the problems with the tranny issue. I was wondering if replacing with a 2004/2005 tranny is possible to avoid the repeat of the same problem.

(By the way, the car is overseas, so the issue of warranty doesn't come into place)

Thanks for your help.

Regards

my guess is that you can if their both 4 cyl, but you really should post this in the 2003-current accord section

Sorry, my mistake. I am a newbie here. I will repost it to the proper section. My concern will be if the ECU will work with the newer tranny.
