Distributor cap bolts/screws help!!
So about a month ago, I changed my dizzy cap and rotor. I went to a local parts store (good old Canadian Tire for all you Canadians out there) and bought the listed 1998 D16Y8 parts.
The problem is, the new cap wouldn't fit properly. One of the screws was broken and stuck in the dizzy portion of the hole (will drill it out), and the other two screws were short. I believe they were smaller diameter than the new bolts too (will double check when I get home from work, but I seem to remember not even being able to thread the new bolts into the dizzy - even with the cap off) and they had a varying thread (large thread near the screw head, and a few small threads near the tip, if you know what I mean). I call the new parts bolts and the old parts screws because the new bolts have hex heads, whereas the old screws have the rounded screw heads with flathead slots..
Also, the new cap's bolt hole sections were much thicker than the old cap's (see pic, circled in red), and so the old screws wouldn't even reach the dizzy when using the new cap. I ended up using the old cap and screws with the new rotor, but I should probably solve this problem sooner rather than later..
Any ideas on why this could be? Wrong parts? Could the previous owner have put something other than a Y8 dizzy on the car? I will post pics of my bolts and the new cap in comparison to the old stuff when I get home.

Yup somethings not right here. Either return the one you have, or go OEM, can't go wrong there. I have never had any issues with dizzy caps, always just a straight foreward 3 bolt procedure
