Ignition switch problems?? 91 CRX SI.
So, I just bought a 91 Rex, with a DOHC ZC motor in it and i wasn't able to keep it running after getting it home because of a problem with my ignition cylinder/switch. If i hold the key in a position half-way before engaging the starter and the "on" position, the car will stay running. If i let go and it returns to the on position (like it should) then i lose all accessory power [and the fuel pump doesn't prime] except for my radio. Now, what i would like to know is whether my issue is related to a faulty ignition key cylinder or if my ignition switch/wiring could be culprit. Any suggestions would be great.
Why the hell you put quotations around the switch... you're confusing me, lol? You didn't answer my question though... would my symptoms be SPECIFICALLY indicative of a faulty switch or locking cylinder?
haha, good point. definitely stange to quote "switch" lol, but whatev
anywho, yes your problem points to a failing ignition switch. test it out though if you want to be sure

Thank you very much for the reply. I was fiddling with it last night and could get the motor to remain running a few times. The part will be in tomorrow.
have you tryed just swaping out the ignition cylinder? i know its screwed on by bolts that dont have any patern (screwdriver, phillips, socket, etc.) but I mananged to get mine off by using a air-powered saw to cut grooves into the screw so i can get em off with a flathead screwdriver. or you can just use any type of saw, Hope this helps if you ever attempt to swap it for another one
