long story short, going down the road car in other lane metal object in mine. put a crack in my tank. so the question is what can i do? i have a wrecked 90 si crx and my car is a 90 civic dx, can i swap the tanks? or should i just try to jb weld it or something to that extent.. any help would be great.

 

i don't think the crx tank would work cause its alot smaller

 

A lot smaller? How much does a civic tank hold? The crx si is like 10.5 gallons and crx dx/hf is around 8-9 gallons

 

you can get a new tank for under 100 bucks now well it wood be aftermarket but jb weld will not work and crx and hatch tanks are difrent

 

honda show's that the gas tanks are the same part number. the HF had a smaller tank but dx's and si's had the same size tank. o/p, YES you CAN use the tank from your wrecked si

 

whats the worst that could happen, since both cars arent running, try and put it on, if it dont work then buy another

 

well if the part numbers are the same yous it i just new my hf was dif sorry im not a honda parts catilog

 

they do make repair kits that i have used before successfully. however, since you have the wrecked Si, i would use it. it will swap over.

 

the guy who i bough my car from drilled 3 holes through the chassis into the gas tank to secure his amp's. smart huh? until he took them out. as i was driving away, you can imagine what I smelled. I got a gas tank from a wrecking yard for 65 bucks. I would save your self the time and just buy one...

 

WRONG.
jb weld does work on repairing a gas tank...i got a hole in my cutlass when i was hitting switches back in 2004 and used jb weld to the rescue...its been holding fine ever since...!!!

 

haha im sure it works but i dont think its meant to be a permanent solution. id just get the new tank

 

looks and seals just like new...if it aint broke (anymore) why replace it

I've also successfully used on my current honda gas tank some other stuff you can get at Walmart, etc. call seal all or something like that.
