Default What the hell?!?!?!

I was just installing a braided line in my block for my oil pressure gauge when I noticed this. Now the crack does not move or get bigger as I thread the fitting, and the threading goes deeper into the block than the crack. My question is what do I do about this and if I run the car as is, will it be ok?

if it doesn't leak, you could always try putting J-B weld on it.

Looks like you used a NPT(tapered) fitting, which caused for the crack. You got that sucker almost to the hex. You should have used a BSPT(non tapered) I believe? Anyhow too late...you may be fine for now. But who knows with engine vibrations the crack may expand? The block material does get thicker in the direction of the crack so it may not expand... If it were me I'd pull it out, weld, tap, get new fitting.

Jb Weld works great. I had the same problem before and welded that sucker with Jb weld. It holds fairly good. Just apply a small amount at a time and let it dry up really good before adding more layers.

The end that is threaded in the block is not tapered at all. J-B weld seems to be the next option for now...thanks 00Red_sir.
