94 Civic barn find
I work for a company in San Dimas, California. We've had this '94 Civic sitting in our storage building for a couple of years. The car is covered in dust and cobwebs. The tires are low on air and the brake disks are rusty. The brake fluid is black and the 12V battery is dead.
A group of us are planning on bringing this car back to life. Our goal is to autocross the car and possibly take it to some time trial or HPDE events. There's something very unique about this car that will become apparent as the project progresses. There is a small hint in one of the photos. Any guesses? Keep an eye on the project to learn more about it and feel free to give us some pointers along the way. We'll need some replacement parts and our budget is nil so any suggestions are more than welcome.

i would definitely leave the tow hitch on there too.
wtf were they towing with a cx? you couldn't tow a shopping cart full of packing peanuts with that.

sick project really good looking with no rust and the hx rims... and is the special thing that the passenger side mirror is removed and replaced with the block off plate?
Those are NOT hx rims, they looks similar but they are definitely not.
Thats a 1994 Civic VX (rims included) the lightest of the civics, came with a 1.5L Vtec-E engine, roughly 90Hp really slow but it had amazing fuel mileage. (close to what the Insight gets today, roughly 65mpg)
Around here the VX is very very rare and highly sought after due to its light weight.
Thats Normal, some early and mid 90's civic's came without the passenger side view mirror, well at least here in canada.

The VX were 13 inch where as the HX had 14 inch.
The CX is no doubt very light weight, but I believe the VX is lighter (somehow).
I got a '92 VX, and just had to swap it...

VX rims were 13" the spokes were narrower and shorter from the hub, also the hub appeared larger than the HX rim and the vx had a more "bowled" indent for the lug holes and center cap area.
But yes the cx was a very light civic but the vx was lighter, the vx was the bare bones civic and lightest of all 5th,6th,7th & 8th gen civic(4th gen hatches were approx 100 lbs lighter.), if it wasnt required for the direct operation of the vehicle then honda didnt put it in, that and the engine in the vx is a bit lighter than the cx's, honda made every effort to make the vx as light as possible to improve mpg's
'94-'95 CX = 2,108 lb (956 kg)
'92-'95 VX = 2,094 lb (950 kg)
a whopping 14 pounds, lol
**** look like its in mint condition. if i had that sucker i would leave it exactly how it is and drop a k20 under the hood with a full wire tuck.
no eg deserves to be left abandoned for "a couple of years"
