Default Adjusted Valve's, have some question's

I just wanted to ask a few questions sense i just adjusted the valves tonight. My first time actually.

I want to make sure i adjusted them in the right order as ive heard different answers from different people.

4-3-2-1 is the cylinder order while staring at the motor looking at the motor from in front of the car

i adjusted the exhaust and intake valves per cylinder in this cylinder order

1-3-4-2

I have skunk2 stage 1 camshafts so i did .007 on the intake side and .008 on the exhaust side. Some of them were in spec how-ever some of them i could easily get a .009 under so it was definitely time to adjust them.

The reason why i decided to adjust them is because ive had a very irritating issue for a long time now but i hardly drive the car. "50 miles in 6 months..literally". The problem is it pops/mis-fires after the car has warmed up for a while. If i kick on the a/c or heat the problem goes away. I have an e-cut out so when its open at idle you can hear the mis-fire pretty clearly how-ever it never throw's codes or anything. I think i just need to take it in for a re-tune either way and hope that"ll clear it up.

The motor seems to be less "ticky" now and i noticed after the valve adjustment my idle is slightly higher than before. It still has some tick to it but it really sounds like its coming from the loud *** Tuner Toys 440cc injectors.

It runs its ***** off WOT but partial throttle has always been a bit sloppy and now i can see why after installing the aem wideband. Idle is anywhere from 12:1 to 13:1 depending on motor temperature.

Anywho thanks for your time, much appreciated.

As I just experienced, a good tuner will tune your car at partial throttle, wot and everywhere in between. Take that bad boy to a top end tuner and have them go to town on it. Also, why did you go with the stage 1 skunks instead of the pro 1+? Have you had those cams for a while?

yea the camshaft's ive had for like 3 year's how-ever the past nearly 2 years the car's been collecting dust and part's, ive driven maybe 100 miles the past year, finally just got most of it finished up and got it safety inspected so i can get license plates for it etc'

i still have stock valve-train so i went with s2s1's which are just slightly bigger than stock, didnt wanna mess with valve-train upgrades to upgrade the cam's, the last time it was tuned it was kind of chaos, we ran into alot of issues with leaks on the throttle body/intake manifold and then the map sensor was crap, along with tuner toy's injectors clips being retarded from the factory requiring you to dremel out the inside "so much for plug and play" so long story short he tuned it quickly...ran pretty hot while it was being tuned considering we didnt wait much in between pulls, pretty much only wot tuning..made 199whp/132tq, no cam gear adjustments that session

figured id leave those cam's in sense in about another month or so it"ll be vortech supercharged, just alot of bolt on's and a nice water/air set-up', wont really need cam's or valve-train upgrades with boost but for now its all motor and trying to get it licensed/plated and re-tuned so it"ll be safe and peppy to drive meanwhile

it doesn't matter what order you adjust them in, they say to start at 1 and work your way through the firing order to make it simple and more efficient. Also remember, your better off adjusting a valve too loose then too tight

as for your misfire, have you checked the basics? plugs, wires, dist. cap and rotor. you may want to check your timing as well

yea, i think its just the tune but ive checked and changed the plugs, wires, dist cap and rotor etc, i havnt checked timing'

anywho it only does it at idle and the last time it was tuned the tuner was on a time crush so it definately needs a retune anyways, im gonna upgrade to the 1000cc injectors and re-tune, larger injectors are just because it"ll be boosted real soon and i hear the ID 1000's idle like butter, ill try and figure out the timing check this weekend if i get some spare time, but id imagine if the timing were off the motor would run like ****, not just have a hard to notice idle pop/mis-fire....

thanks bud
