Let me start off by saying that I have searched, googled, etc. I have seen all the post's, websites that show cam rings/grooves, but still cant match my cams.
I also am including pics of the head markings, anyone have insight on the P or b stamped in the last circle? Just curious.
So I started pulling apart the B16A that I just got and am a little confused on the cams that are in there. I know that the B16A is an auto, I pulled the trans off myself. My confusion comes from the markings on the cams. The rings/grooves look nothing like any 92-00 B16A cams I have seen. They look closer to the B17A cams, but I dont know. The only other markings on these are a B stamped midway down the cam on both intake and exhaust cam. With the lack of B16A auto cam pics, I just don't know what I have and any help is much appreciated.

 

cant tell but is that 2 or 3 ridges? if its 3 then they are b17s but definatly dont look like b16a's heres what i'm thinkin

It's only two ridges, so I don't know what they are...

 

if i'm not mistaken itr and ctr have 2 ridges aswell but not as fat as the ones in your pics, i'll try to look up something closer and replace my first post pic as to not confuse

 

they have 2 and 3 markings on the outside of the cam also that goes to the cam seals. 00 ITR cams don't have the ridges.

OP, they look like they are the correct cams for an automatic b16a motor, the JDM b16a automatics do come with the markings like seen in your pics.

 

That's what I was assuming, since the engine looks virgin. But I always check when I get a JDM engine, you never know what you might get as a bonus. But with the lack of auto cam identification information, I was at a loss.

 

I understand, believe me. I got a B16a from a place that imports them here and it had and ITR head on it. I put that head on an LS block and boosted the LS/Vtec lol.. I was pretty happy when I found that out though.

 

I bet, thats a prett nice upgrade. I guess it really doesn't matter for me, since I am upgrading the valve springs to ITR's and running GSR cams for now. I just wanted to identify the cams that were in there. Thanks for the help.
