What Oil should I get.....?
2000 civic DX coupe, with almost 110,000 miles. Just recently bought, time for an oil change, tune up, etc. any suggestions. Its my DD, and I drive about 30-40 miles daily.
Get whatever is on sale at the auto parts store. 5w30 10w40 10w30. It isnt gonna make a lick of difference. Its a D16y7 not a Ferrari. I would try a heavier weight if its burning a little oil. If not, 10w30 will be good. Change it every 5k. Idk why people recommend Mobil 1 or any synthetic oils in stock Single cam motors. Thats crazy.

I used whatever oil was on sale at the auto store when I had my y8 and had no problems at all

I have always been a guy to NOT change oils after I have already used one. The motor will get "used to the oil" is how i would put it and changing an oil down the road isnt the greatest idea. I know many guys will disagree and say "oils oil", but its really not.
Just my opinion, got it from my dad whose been building small blocks forever and also from many other racers at the track who reccomend the same thing.

castrol gtx high mileage.........that and a fram filter is all my 93 Si has seen since brand new and has had ZERO engine problems at all. runs better than new.
checked valve lash at 100k when i did the timing belt, and again at 150k when i put a new VC gasket on and it didnt need any adjustment either time.

I run both of those oils in my B18c5. 10w30. No issues. The premium gas is what kills me.
Any 5w30 fully synthetic oil will do fine along with K&N oil filter. =D Don't go any high weight or you'll start losing gas mileage. Currently have 210k on the y8.

dont use a fram. get a puralator. and just pick a oil and stick with it.

definitely go with something made for high mileage engines. also, if regular motor oil is in there now, you can either keep using regular or go synthetic, but if you go synthetic, stick with it for the life of the car. and if it has synthetic in there now, definitely keep putting synthetic in as switching between the two, especially backwards from synthetic to regular motor oil, is never a good idea.
110k is LOW!!! And at 30-40 miles/day looks like you won't be racking the mile up too fast either.
I'd get Mobil1 0W-30, not because it's Mobil1 but because the thinner oil at low temps might help.
