Default Question on Vacuum Leaks

2000 EX Coupe. Stock D16

How would you go about fixing a vacuum leak??? To be more specific it is mainly where the throttle body bolts up to the motor. Do you recommend a guy with just average mechanically skills(Me ) to attempt to fix this or should I take it to the pros???

Also might as well throw this in there...my CEL doesnt work at all. Any idea what might be wrong??? cluster works fine besides the CEL. The ecu must be working properly since well the car is running I assume???

IDK bought 2 hondas in the past 3 months and they are both given me headaches

1) Well if you already know where the vacuum leak is (between the throttle body and intake manifold) replace the gasket yourself. 2) Does the CEL bulb work?

Would I have to remove the cluster to see if the CEL bulb works??? Is there a fuse I can just check or something???

yeah replacing the throttle body gasket isnt hard at all, should be a breeze just make sure to get all the old gasket material off. And turn your key as if to start but not all the way and see if your CEL light turns on then back off. If it doesnt turn on most likely the bulb is blown or taken out

Yea I checked it earlier that way and it didnt show up. So my question is would I have to remove the cluster to get to the bulb or could it be a fuse???

never heard of a fuse that could keep just the CEL bulb from working. Will have to take the cluster out to find out the real truth. Not hard at all just a hand full of phillips head screws and find the bulb on the back of the cluster and twist it out if its even there. How long have you had the car? Have you ever seen it work?

the fuse should be for all the instrument cluster bulbs, so no, not a fuse. i would bet there isnt one in there. so ya take out your cluster and replace it.

the bulbs for the other lights should be the same. you could take one out of another and put it in there while you go buy another bulb temporarily
