Default OBD2B NO C-PLUG ON ECU?

I HAVE A 1998 EK HATCH WITH A 2000 SI B16A2 SWAP. IM HOOKING UP THE ECU AND THERES NO 3RD PLUG COMING FROM THE DASH, SO IM JUST RUNNING 2 PLUGS, EVERYTHING WORKS AND RUNS FINE EXCEPT I HAVE NO TACH OR SPEEDO, ALL OTHER GAUGES AND DASH LIGHTS WORK, JUST THOSE 2 DONT. DOES THAT MEAN I HAVE AN ODD HARNESS OR WHAT? I JUST CANT FIND THAT 3RD PLUG ANYWHERE. ANY IDEAS?

You don't need to type in all caps.. Do you have an OBD2A-to-OBD2B conversion harness? You'll need one to run the 2000 Si ECU.

I guess idk for sure what harness it has. It does have the 2000 si ecu and motor so I'm assuming the engine harness is the same. Does that conversion harness change my 2 plugs into 3? Like I said there is no 3rd harness coming from the dash. Sorry about the caps lol my work computers are always stuck on caps. So I switched to my phone. Thanks guys.

What country are you/your car in? Are you sure the other plug isn't hiding somewhere? Do you have your stock ECU to verify that there were only 2 plugs?

You're using a '99 - '00 engine harness with a '96 - '98 underdash harness. Replace the engine harness with a '96 - '98 5 speed EX harness and you'll fix your problems.

WOULD THAT EXPLAIN MY MISSING 3RD PLUG? I WANT TO BE DAMN SURE BEFORE ANYTHING MAJOR GETS PURCHASED. EVEN IF I REPLACE THE ENGINE HARNESS THAT DOESNT PUT A HARNESS UNDER MY DASH. HAS ANYONE ELSE DONE THIS SWAP OR KNOW OF A WRITE-UP? IV BEEN SEARCHING ALL DAY AND ALL I CAN FIND IS UNRELATED STUFF, THANKS

It does actually. Observe the pic below. '99 - '00 Civic engine harnesses don't have the "A" plug because its part of the underdash harness, whereas on '96 - '98 Civics its part of the engine harness. Basically the engine harness and underdash harness have to match. You could also use a '99 - '00 underdash harness and keep your current engine harness, but its more work. Oh, and you don't need to keep the caps lock on.

Quit with the caps.

You have a 98 hatch - get a 96-98 Ex 5-spd harness, like has been suggested. You don't have the under-dash harness that has the "A" connector because that's present in 99-00 Civics...which you don't have. So quit looking for it and get the correct harness.

LIKE I SAID MY COMP AT WORK IS ALWAYS IN CAPS, AND FOR SOME REASON I THOUGHT THAT HARNESS DIDNT WORK BECAUSE OF IT BEING SINGLE CAM.

you do realize that the "A" plug is the cabin plug right? cause mine ecu uses plug "A" "B" "C" and and the ecu is an obd2b style. do your research before telling some dude to rip his dash apart

I assume you missed the dates of the post as you are replying to a thread that is seven years old now.

It's unlikely the person you are replying to will respond to you or care about this thread due to the age alone.

Also, the information was well covered and documented. There really was no good purpose for you to bump this 7 year old dead thread.
