Default Pls help me identify these wires. Aftermarket HU

Picture is from a 91 integra.

1. Correct me if I'm wrong, the yellow wire is 12+ volt battery wire?

2. Whats the purpose of that black thing in-between the yellow wire?

3. Do you see that pink wire by itself with a butt connector at the end of it? what is that for? the "install doctor" web site doesn't mention any pink wires.

4. Is this the stock harness or an aftermarket one?

I'm replacing an old HU that was done at a audio shop for a new kenwood Hu that I'm going to install myself. KDC-138.

That looks like the wire harness for many different aftermarket units. You may get lucky and not need to rewire. The black box is an inline fuse. Why someone would hard-wire that in a car is beyond me.

nope its a noise filter ....basically filters static (noise) from entering the radio.
Most radios have it internally...some high ends units have it external. It looks like an
earlier kenwood (circa mid 90's) harness

Right.

And someone cut the factory harness off and wired that one in.

If i were you i did start over because that person didn't really do a good clean wiring install. It look like he just cut the after market wire and add the h/u wiring. Do you know how to solder wire and connect them in order?

Thanks anyway but I just connected this old harness to the new HU. When I get some time on my hands I'll make it right.

Yes I know how to solder and thank God for the internet for free Manuals and diagrams.

You can go a junk yard and find the factory H/u hardness wire.
