OK so i wrotte a couple of post a few days back on what my engine was giving me problems with noone was able to help me so im writting another now hopefully i can get an answer... Well my car is misfiring and the rpm are jumping. Im driving and ill see my rpm's jump and the car with start like choking or misfire w.e is it you say it and ill will start jugging back and forth then ill go away... The next ill turn it on and ill be fine then i start driving ten minutes later ill start doing the same thing then ill go away for a lil then again.. And the car is slow it doesnt have the same power as before.. PLZ guys i need help..

on to the car trouble.. has anything been done to the car, or is it completely stock? is the check engine light on? if so, what's the code(s)? have you checked any of the ignition system componentes (plugs, plug wires, cap, rotor...) for wear or damage?

you don't see these kind of symptoms often without something first being neglected or poorly repaired/adjusted/modified.

 

ok i has the same problem and i fix it, check your plugs, and plugs wires, if continue doing that at some rpm in especˇfic, check the map sensor, is situated on the top of your carburator

 

My car does the same thing, but only after my COI filter is soaked (AKA carwash). If this is when you're having the problem, keep to low rpm, no more than ~3000 for about the first 10 mins after, to allow it to dry out.

On the other hand...is there an rpm that this tends to occur at? Maybe VTEC not engaging properly?

 

i did the plugs, but not the wires i will do the wires today and will see if after that it will get fix... ill get back to you guys as soon as i do it. Oh one more thing is when i start the car it will run fine but after a while is when it will start doing it.. RPM skips and car chocking.. ok guys here is the issue... I took off spark plug wires off when the car is running and i put a screw driver in the wire and is not throwing any spark on noone of the 4 wires... I dont see the spark nor do i hear it....

 

anyone????

 

well ur rotar in ur cap could be shot so ur best bet is to change ur cap and rotor if not then maybe ur dizzy is messing up

WTF? Civics haven't had carburetors since the mid 80's. Maybe you mean the throttle body?


If it's a misfire problem, I would check plugs/cap/rotor/wires/coil/distributor in that order.

Is it throwing a Check Engine light? If so, go to Autozone and borrow their reader. Post the codes. If it's distributor, it's conceivable that it could be doing that with no codes... my CRV had similar symptoms that you're describing: misfires constantly and running like CRAP with no codes.

After I replaced EVERYTHING in the ignition system, except the distributor, it died on the road and wouldn't restart. Ended up being the distributor.
