hot to make your slipstreams look liek real spoons...
two ways to come out lookign better than that gloss black crap.
IF YOU BUY THE FLAT BLACK SLIPSTREAMS liek i did.
-first, wash them and dry them thoroughly with soap and water
-then get medium course steel wool, one pad for each rim.
-apply elbow grease and sand away, but becareful not to sand too hard otherwise you might scrape away the actual paint off the metal rim!
-in essence, what you are doing is just takign off the last finish coat that makes them that semi gloss look, as opposed to the completely flat spoon black you want.
IF YOU BOUGHT ANY OTHER COLOR/TYPE of RIM
-go out and buy RUSTOLEUM flat black. I havent tried other brands but this kind worked for us.
-apply the same techniques above.
-after you are finished sanding with the wool, wash again and dry
-now u can paint either one or two coats
-they will come out better and last longer if u take the time and do it right.
or you can go out and have a wheel shop professionally take off and prep your rims and you can paint them
good luck

i did it for me, because the glossy black of the supposed "FLAT BLACK slipstream" was not flat enough, and they happen to look more like the spoon rim
that is all

I bought Rota Slipstreams, I didn't buy Spoon SW-388s.
I wanted flat black Rota Slipstreams, I didn't want flat black Spoon SW-388s
I happy and proud to be rollin on Rota Slipstreams. I wouldn't be happier if I was rollin on Spoon SW-388s but I would be about $1400 poorer.
If I had wanted Spoon SW-388s then I still wouldn't have them, why the **** would I spend $1800 on rims!!!
I have Rota Slipstreams, I like Rota Slipstreams and I don't have to make excusses to anyone why.

If you can find Krylon ultra flat black, that would work the best. That stuff is the true absence of light. The absolute blackest, dullest paint ever made. We used to write with that crap back in the day. Smells like bubble gum too, what a plus!
just do what i do get some carbotech brake pads they dust nicely and afte abot 20 min of driving your rims have dust on them and look like real spoons oh and never wash them heheheheh

Thats exactly how I feel. I'm actually getting tired of this rota and spoon debate. If you like spoon that's fine and if you like rota thats fine and if you don't like the replica wheels that rota makes then don't buy them. By the way Rota must be about something because everyday someone is always talking about Rota this and Rota that.
rotas...hold their own regarding cost to a weight/durability ratio, but if u say "why buy those when u can have these" regarding spoons..thats dumb as hell. they are totally different. the rota will get the job done and is a GREAT rim for the weight, durability, and cost aspects, but to say it is on the same level as a desmond is foolish.
<---proud rota owner btw. but not a stupid one. i would never try to front like my slipstreams are on the same level as desmonds, but for the cost and my budget and needs, they do just fine.

Sorry, rotas will never be known as rotas - they will always be fake spoons. Not to mention almost everyone (even rota owners) agree with me. Its not the way I want it to be - its the way it is. Buy some real wheels posers.
